Abuse happens to adults and can come in many forms, examples include:
- neglect
- financial
- physical
- emotional
- sexual and discriminatory abuse
We have a duty to try to protect vulnerable adults in our society. This could include adults who have:
- learning difficulties
- physical problems
- mental health problems
- physical disabilities
- or those who are frail and or elderly
What to do if you have concerns for a vulnerable adult
If you have concerns about a vulnerable adult you think may be being abused, you can phone us on 0345 678 9021 Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4pm.
Outside of these hours please phone the Emergency Social Work Duty Team on 0345 678 9040.
Multi Agency Adult Protection Policy 2009
When you report your concerns to us, we will use our Multi-Agency Adult Protection Policy to investigate the situation. The new updated policy can now be downloaded from this page. Please note you will also need to download 1 to 5 of the appendices which are part of the overall policy.
If you want to make an Adult Protection referral, please go straight to Appendix 1. The information in the first part of this section will tell you how to report your concerns.
