Abuse happens to adults and can come in many forms, examples include:
- neglect
- financial
- physical
- emotional
- sexual and discriminatory abuse
We have a duty to try to protect vulnerable adults in our society. This could include adults who have:
- learning difficulties
- physical problems
- mental health problems
- physical disabilities
- or those who are frail and or elderly
If you have concerns about a vulnerable adult you think may be being abused, please report your concerns to one of our Social Care Teams. To find out your nearest social care team please see the contact our social care team link on this page.
Multi Agency Adult Protection Policy 2009
When you report your concerns to us, we will use our Multi-Agency Adult Protection Policy to investigate the situation. The new updated policy can now be downloaded from this page.
If you want to make an Adult Protection referral, please go straight to Appendix 1. The information in the first part of this section will tell you how to report your concerns.
