Organisation and management

Settings need to ensure that organisation is taken seriously as this will have an effect on the service that is offered to children. One of the best ways of doing this is to have an up-to-date Operational Plan detailing all aspects of your setting. Our team has produced some excellent guidance to help you put together your Operational Plan and how to manage it.

We also have a number of documents that will support you with meeting Ofsted requirements when setting up a childcare setting or altering your provision. Using these documents will ensure that you are prepared when the Ofsted inspector arrives.

Once you have met all of Ofsted's requirements you will need to think about other aspects of running a business. We have materials to support you with recruiting and retaining staff, promoting and marketing your business and how to set the level of your fees.

As with any business you will need to keep records. Shropshire Pre-School Learning Alliance has produced a list of all the records you need to keep and how long you need to keep them for which is very useful. You should also make sure that Ofsted, the Early Years Education and Childcare Team etc are kept up to date with any changes that occur in your setting and you can find a list of these in the publications on the right hand side of this page

You will also find a number of useful links to other websites to help you with your organisation and management.
