Shropshire Council has undertaken a review of the parish boundaries and the electoral arrangements including the numbers of parish councillors, the division of the parish into wards and the number of members per ward for Craven Arms.
The Community Governance Review commenced on 1 August 2011 with the publication of the terms of reference for the review. Comments and proposals were invited by 30 November 2011. The Council considered all of the comments and proposals submitted and on 6 December 2011 published its draft proposals. A further period of consultation followed which closed on 6 February 2012. The Council’s Community Governance Working Party considered all of the comments received and the final proposals document was published.
The final proposals were approved by Council on 3 May 2012. A re-organisation order will be made to abolish the existing wards and to reduce the number of seats from 15 to 11. These new arrangements will come into force for the local elections in May 2013.
A copy of the Order can be obtained from the Elections Office by telephoning 01743 252330. It may also be downloaded from this webpage.
