A range of online resources are being developed covering reference books, directories and local history material.
Online Reference Library
Library members can use hundreds of reference books online. Follow the link to the Online Reference Library. All you need is your library membership number and PIN and you can look at such resources as The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and Britannica Online.
You can also directly access material relating to the history and cultural heritage of the county through a series of online resources that are being developed by the Shropshire Libraries in collaboration with Shropshire Archives and other partners. You can start to discover Shropshire by looking through web resources including photograph galleries, digitised documents and learning packages in the following resources:
Literary Heritage - West Midlands provides comprehensive digital information about people, places and writing connected with Shropshire and the West Midlands of England. There is information about authors, examples of their work and complete books in digital format for reading online or downloading.
Shropshire Routes to Roots describes aspects of Shropshire's history using archive and library sources and research from local historians. Local history and archive material has been for use by teachers, school children and lifelong learners.
Other projects, including Discovering Shropshire's History and Secret Shropshire, have been set-up by Shropshire Archives. These will all be developed in the future to become a fully integrated online resource.
