There has been a museum in Ludlow since 1833. Today's museum opened in 1995.
The museum includes the John Norton Gallery and a presentation of the internationally famous geology of the Ludlow area. Here visitors can discover how Sir Roderick Murchison, the famous Victorian geologist unravelled the story of Ludlow's rocks and made them internationally famous. New finds are still being made today - some of the oldest known fossil plants and land animals in the world have been found in the area.
The museum also tells the story of the people who have lived and worked in Ludlow, from the Bronze Age farmers through to the present day. The museum also hosts a number of temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
