All registration service offices will be closed on the following dates:

If you need to contact the service out of hours or during this closure period, in the event of an emergency, in particular in the circumstances highlighted below:
- Emergency death registrations for those with particular cultural or religious beliefs - please contact your funeral director; ·
- Registrar General’s Licence for Marriage or Civil Partnership (where one party is seriously ill and not expected to recover) - please contact your GP, Hospital Administrator or Chaplain.
New Services
Saturday afternoon ceremonies in registration service ceremony rooms
The service is pleased to extend their availability to perform marriage, civil partnership, naming and re-affirmation of vows ceremonies in the ceremony rooms at Bishop's Castle, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Oswestry, and Wem. It is now possible to book ceremonies to be held on Saturday afternoons from 12.30pm to 4.30pm, this is in addition to the existing available times of 10am to 12.30pm. The fee payable for Saturday afternoon ceremonies in one of the above ceremony rooms is £200 (plus £3.50 per marriage or civil partnership certificate.) It is also possible to hold a civil naming or re-affirmation of vows ceremony in the Shropshire Register Office, Shrewsbury on a Saturday afternoon.
Civil ceremony booking
We are now pleased to be able to accept provisional bookings more than one year, but less than two years in advance of the proposed ceremony date. Provisional bookings made more than one year in advance are subject to an administration fee of £50. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable and is in addition to the fee payable for the attendance of the Registrar. Provisional bookings made within one year of the proposed ceremony are not subject to an administration fee.
Provisional bookings made within one year of the date of the ceremony are now subject to a £40 fee which is deductible from the ceremony fee, but is not refundable if the ceremony does not go ahead. Any amendments to the date and time of the ceremony are subject to availability and payment of a £20 administration fee.

Rehearsals
From Tuesday, 4 January 2011 the service is able to offer ceremony rehearsals at the registration service ceremony rooms in Bishop's Castle, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Oswestry, Wem and in the Shropshire Register Office, Shrewsbury. The rehearsal may take the form of a general discussion as to what to expect on the day of the ceremony or even a walk through of the ceremony. Whilst the rehearsal will take place in one of the ceremony rooms, the rehearsals are available to anyone who is having a civil marriage or partnership ceremony in the Shropshire Council area either in a ceremony room or at an approved premises.
The following fee is payable:
- Monday to Friday during normal office opening hours: £40 per 30 minute appointment
- Saturday morning (before 12.30pm): £60 per 30 minute appointment
- Saturday afternoon (after 12.30pm): £150 per hour appointment

Personal Vows
You are now, subject to the approval of the Superintendent Registrar, able to include personal vows in your ceremony, to make it individual and tailored to your own sentiments. A fee of £30 is payable.
