Shropshire's School Meals Service
Shropshire Council's school meals service aims to provide good quality nutritious food for children in Shropshire schools. Our highly skilled staff work to menus and recipes compiled by dedicated catering professionals to ensure that meals are as nutritious and consistent as possible across the county.
The service provides meals to 144 primary schools and 16 secondary schools in Shropshire.
In addition we provide catering services to three sixth form colleges, a secondary school in Colwyn Bay, one in Telford and two independent schools.
In the neighbouring county of Worcestershire, which has no dedicated school meal service, we provide meals to 52 first, middle and secondary schools.
We serve around 17,000 meals per day in Shropshire with a further 8,000 per day in Worcestershire. In total we employ around 1500 staff and a support team of:
- area managers
- supervisors
- catering managers
- financial and administration staff
- health, safety and training staff
