Young people have a lot to gain from sport and physical activity. Their natural sense of fun and spontaneity can blossom in positive sporting and recreational environments, which promote progress in a child-centred way. Sport and physical activity provides an excellent opportunity for young people to learn new skills, to become more confident and to maximise their own unique potential. Sport and physical activity can also make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults, for example those with physical, mental health or learning disabilities.
We are committed to the prevention of abuse to children, young people and vulnerable adults who take part in sport and physical activity in Shropshire.
If you are a child who needs to talk to someone or an adult who has concerns about the welfare of a child, please contact the NSPCC helpline: 0808 800 5000.
For further information about safeguarding children and vulnerable adults please visit the websites on this page.
Alternatively you can download the attached user friendly guidelines. These guidelines will help you understand your responsibilities to children, young people, and vulnerable adults, although it should be noted that they are not a substitute to attending an appropriate training course.
