Kerbside recycling services

family with kerbside recycling boxes

Shropshire residents now have access to a kerbside recycling collection service, which makes it easier for people to recycle. The information on this page shows what materials can be collected at the kerbside for recycling, in a kerbside recycling box.

Garden waste/cardboard - for more information about kerbside collections of these materials, please visit the 'garden waste collections' page.

Kerbside collection box

The following can be put out for recycling in the appropriate box.

Paper

  • newspapers
  • periodicals and magazines
  • catalogues
  • telephone directories including ‘Yellow Pages’)
  • all types of uncontaminated household paper, greetings cards and junk mail, envelopes (please remove plastic windows), computer print outs, paper bags, stationery type paper.

Glass

Clean, unbroken glass bottles and jars which normally contain food / beverages used in the home. Please note: you don't need to remove any labels.

Cans

  • clean food and drink cans (aluminium or steel)
  • aerosols
  • tin foil
  • metal lids from jars and bottles
  • foil trays

It is important for hygiene reasons to rinse out bottles, jars, cans and foil containers and not to put unrecyclable waste in recycling boxes or garden waste bins. Thank you for recycling, it really is making a difference!
