Have you got a spare room? (supported lodgings providers)

Can you help? We're looking for people to become 'supported lodgings providers'.

Some young people from Shropshire need supported lodgings as a place to live until they're ready to live independently. Supported lodgings providers offer opportunities for young people to develop the life skills and confidence needed to move into independent living. They provide a spare room and meals for each young person, but also support and assistance. This can make a huge difference at a critical time in their lives.

Many of the young people placed in supported lodgings will have been living in or leaving care. Others might be unaccompanied asylum seeking children. Some may have been homeless, or at risk of homelessness. They will all be 16 or older, and encouraged and expected to be engaged in, or actively seeking education, training or employment.

Supported lodgings providers come from many walks of life. You can be married, single, co-habiting, and from any cultural and ethnic background. There are no upper age limits. The role can be demanding both physically and emotionally, but also very rewarding. You'll need patience, energy and a sense of humour.

You support young people and we support you!  All supported lodgings providers are provided with ongoing training and support and a weekly allowance.
