Neighbourhood and community led plans
Neighbourhood planning was introduced under the Localism Act to give members of the community a more ‘hands on’ role in the planning of their neighbourhoods. It enables communities to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and deliver the sustainable development they need through planning policies relating to the development and use of land.
Neighbourhood Plans will allow communities to shape the future of their areas. This could include determining the location of shops, offices and schools to setting standards of design for new housing.
They're instigated and prepared by local communities with our support. They include extensive community engagement and will be looked at by an independent examiner to consider how the plan fits in with local and national planning policies. They form part of the development plan for that specific area on adoption by Shropshire Council.
