I joined the Joint training team in 2015 as a MAPA® (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) trainer. In 2018 I was delighted to become learning disability lead, where I'm able to share my experience, knowledge and skills.

I have extensive experience working within learning disability services, starting as a support worker, becoming a special educational needs teacher, and then finally a registered care manager. I'm passionate about how best to support people with learning disabilities in a way which improves quality of life and achieves high quality outcomes. I enjoyed every minute of supporting amazing individuals and loved the ever changing nature of the role.

I hold the following qualifications relevant to my role:

  • L5 diploma in leadership in health and social care
  • City and Guilds certificate in training and education
  • Qualified teacher status
  • MAPA® advanced physical skills instructor

Outside work, I love all things sporty, particularly running, cricket, Derby County FC and getting out in the countryside and walking. Fortunately this offsets my other passion for food and drink, particularly cheese, lasagne, crisps and real ale. Finally I have a big passion for travel and have been fortunate enough to visit some wonderful countries and meet some incredible people.
