Shropshire Council

Cleobury Mortimer Neighbourhood Plan

An application by Cleobury Mortimer Parish Council to designate a neighbourhood plan area went out for public consultation from 30 August to 28 September 2017. The application was approved by Shropshire Council's cabinet on 2 May 2018.

Andrea Pellegram MRTPI was appointed by the Cleobury Mortimer Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group as consultant.

The Cleobury Mortimer community were consulted on the draft neighbourhood plan during the summer of 2022.

We received a submission of the draft Cleobury Mortimer Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents from Cleobury Mortimer Parish Council and consulted on these documents in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, from 16 January to 10 March 2023.

In June 2023,Tony Burton CBE BA MPhil (Town Planning) FRIBA FRSA was appointed as the independent examiner for the plan. He assessed the plan to decide if it met the basic conditions and could proceed to a referendum with modifications. The amended plan went to cabinet on 18 October 2023.

A referendum was held on 7 December 2023. The result was 84.21% in favour of Shropshire Council using the neighbourhood plan for Cleobury Mortimer to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

At our council meeting on 21 March 2024, we resolved to ‘make’ the Cleobury Mortimer Neighbourhood Plan. The ‘making’ of the plan means that it's adopted and now forms part of the statutory development plan for the area.

The adopted plan can be viewed here and on request at our offices at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
