Shropshire Highways logoTwo sets of roadworks are planned in the Battlefields area of Shrewsbury. These works are part of our capital maintenance programme and will improve the road surface and driver safety. To minimise disruption we'll be working during off-peak hours from 8pm to 6am. Clearly marked diversions will be in place, and should you require access to your property or business during these hours please contact the gatemen on the day. Please read the notes at the end of this webpage on access arrangements under 'Information for local residents'.

Access to properties and businesses within the works will be maintained.

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

There are two sets of works:

A5112 Whitchurch Road (Harlescott Lane to Heathgates Roundabout)

19 September – 1 October overnight works from 8pm to 6am.

Battlefield Road, Shrewsbury

26 September – 8 October. Overnight works from 8pm to 6am. Clearly signed diversions will be in place. Access to supermarkets will be maintained for shoppers during the daytime.

On the following map (also attached to this page) the red line shows the closure area and the roads marked green show the diversion routes.

Information for local residents

Whist we've taken measures to reduce disruption for local residents as much as possible, there will be some disruption and we apologise in advance.  

Residents living on:     

  • Windermere Road
  • Rydal Avenue
  • Grasmere Road
  • Coniston Road
  • Whitchurch Road south of Wickes

...will need to exit out of Coniston Road, take an immediate left onto the A5112 then an immediate right onto Rosedale. 

Residents living on:

  • Kendal Road
  • Ambleside
  • Centurion Park
  • Whitchurch Road north of Wickes

...will need to exit out of Kendal Road, take an immediate left onto the A5112 then an immediate right onto Haughmond Avenue.
