Shropshire Council

Student Accommodation Accreditation Scheme

Our Student Accommodation Accreditation Scheme was adopted on 1 December 2016. The aim of this scheme is to help students currently studying at the University Centre Shrewsbury find safe places to live within the private rented sector in and around the town, as a follow-on from the student halls of residence at Mardol House.

The intention is to give reassurance to those likely to be living away from home for the first time, and to enable them to find suitable accommodation which meets their requirements, as outlined in our property checklist

If you'd like to find out more about accreditation please contact housing.enforcement@shropshire.gov.uk as the scheme is currently being reviewed

Associated training will take place in due course, and members of the scheme will be advised of dates as and when necessary.

It's expected that the tenancies for these properties will be assured shorthold tenancies, and that any deposits taken will be placed in a tenancy deposit protection scheme within the required 30 days.

Properties on the Student Accommodation Accreditation Scheme should be advertised through the Chester Student Stamp website, where students can view the property details along with information for contacting the landlord/agent. Take a look at our flyer for more information.
