Shropshire’s Draft Economic Growth Strategy 2022-2027 consultation summer 2022

  • Period: 04 July 2022 - 02 September 2022
  • Status: Closed
  • Audiences: Everyone
  • Topics: Business and economy
  • Type: Public

The Economic Growth Strategy for Shropshire (EGS) for 2022-2027 has now been published as a draft for formal consultation.

The strategy has been refreshed to consider the council’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the impacts of Brexit and also how these national changes impact on partners and the economy. The draft strategy has been developed through ongoing collaboration between Shropshire Council, the local economic taskforce, Shropshire’s business community, and other partners and key stakeholders.

The Economic Growth Strategy focuses across three strategic themes:

  • Supporting local businesses
  • Strategic locations
  • Employment and skills

It sets out: its key principles, what’s next for Shropshire, mission statements, vision, core values, strategic themes, proposed governance, resourcing, impact, and action plan headlines.

This is a strategy for the county, co-created with the business community and it will be delivered in partnership for the economic prosperity of Shropshire. An action plan is to be prepared to support the Economic Growth Strategy. The action plan will set out the more detailed streams of activities and how these will be delivered to support the aspirations set out in the document.

A short questionnaire has been produced to aid our consultation and we welcome your feedback, recommendations and thoughts on this key strategy for Shropshire.

The draft strategy documents and evidence base are attached below. You can find a full set of supporting documents and appendices for the draft Economic Growth Strategy here.
