Indexation of CIL rates

The National CIL Regulations (2010) specify that CIL rates are subject to annual indexation using the national RICS CIL Index from 2020 onwards. The RICS CIL Index is published annually on the RICS website. The indexation for 2021 has resulted in a 48.65% increase of the CIL rates charged by Shropshire Council from 2012. This indexation applies to all development which is granted planning permission in 2021. Please see the Annual CIL Rate Summary for further information regarding the CIL rates for 2021.

The indexation for 2022 has resulted in a 48.23% increase of the CIL rates charged by Shropshire Council from 2012. This indexation applies to all development which is granted planning permission in 2022. Please see the Annual CIL Rate Summary for further information regarding the CIL rates for 2022.

The National Indexation changes for each calendar year can be found below. These changes are from the original CIL rates set by Shropshire Council in 2012 (ie £40 per square metre and £80 per square metre, dependent on location).
